Yas Island is an artificial island on the eastern edge of Abu Dhabi, created by land reclamation and developed since 2006 as a leisure and entertainment destination. Visit Abu Dhabi says it lies just off the mainland, 15 minutes from Zayed International Airport and a 30-minute drive from central Abu Dhabi, with a free Yas Express shuttle linking hotels and attractions.
Miral, whose headquarters stand on the island, describes itself as Abu Dhabi's creator of immersive destinations and experiences. Disney's announcement credits Miral with developing several family entertainment destinations on Yas Island.
