How to Choose a Web Design Company in Dubai
Choosing a web design company is mostly about checking evidence and getting promises in writing. This guide gives you a checklist you can use with any agency, including us.
To choose a web design company in Dubai, check that its portfolio shows live, fast, mobile-friendly sites; require a written quote listing pages, languages, revisions and deliverables; confirm you will own the domain, hosting account, source files and content; and ask how bilingual English and Arabic layouts, SEO basics and maintenance are handled.

What should you check in a web design company's portfolio?
A portfolio should prove that the company has built real, working websites, not only attractive screenshots. Open every example on your own phone and look at it live before you trust the picture.
- Does the site load quickly on a mobile connection, and does it still look tidy on a small screen?
- Is the design genuinely different from one project to the next, or is it the same template with new colours?
- Do the examples belong to businesses like yours, with similar content, audience and number of pages?
Ask for contactable references if the company says its work is private. Our own gallery of sample designs is fictional, and we say so openly, because a sample is not a client result.
What must a web design quote cover?
A web design quote must describe exactly what you will receive, by when, and what happens if the scope changes. A single line such as "corporate website" is not a quote; it is an invitation to argue later.
A usable quote lists at least the following:
- The pages included and how each page type is designed.
- The languages, and whether the Arabic version is written and checked by a person who reads Arabic.
- Who writes, edits and supplies text, photos and logos.
- The number of design revision rounds and what counts as a revision.
- Technical and on-page SEO work, redirects from an old site, and analytics set-up.
- Hosting, SSL, email and domain set-up, and who pays for each.
If you collect several quotes, compare them line by line rather than by total. Our guide to what affects the cost of a corporate website explains why quotes for the same brief can look so different.
Who should own your domain, hosting, source files and content?
You, the business owner, should own your domain name, your hosting account, your content and the finished website files. Ownership is the point where a bad agency relationship becomes expensive, so settle it before you sign.
- Domain: registered in your company's name, with your email as the registrant contact, not the agency's.
- Hosting and SSL: in an account you can log into, or with written access and a documented handover.
- Source files: the design files, code and database exports delivered to you at the end, in a usable form.
- Content: your text, photos and logo remain yours; agree who holds the licence for any stock images or fonts.
Ask the question directly: "If we part ways in a year, what do I take with me, and how?" The answer should be written in the contract.
What SEO and speed basics should a good agency deliver?
A good web design company delivers a site that search engines can crawl and visitors can use quickly, without selling you rankings. Nobody can promise a position on Google, and an agency that does should not be hired.
Reasonable basics to ask for include one clear H1 per page, descriptive titles and meta descriptions, a sensible URL structure, an XML sitemap, correct redirects, images in modern formats with proper dimensions, and structured data that matches the visible content. Google documents these expectations in its own guidance, and our technical SEO checklist goes through them in order.
On speed, Google's web.dev describes three Core Web Vitals with "good" targets: Largest Contentful Paint of 2.5 seconds or less, Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less, and Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less, measured at the 75th percentile of real page loads. Ask the agency how it will test against these before launch, and what it will show you as evidence.
Does a Dubai website need English and Arabic with right-to-left layout?
Most Dubai businesses with a mixed audience benefit from English and Arabic versions, and the Arabic version must be built as a true right-to-left layout rather than a mirrored afterthought. Whether you need it depends on who your customers are, not on a rule.
A proper Arabic build sets the page direction in the code, mirrors navigation and layout, picks fonts designed for Arabic, and checks forms, numbers, phone fields and mixed English-Arabic text. Google advises separate URLs for each language version, with hreflang annotations linking them, and no automatic redirects based on a guessed language.
What maintenance and contract points matter after launch?
Maintenance means someone is responsible for updates, backups, security patches, uptime and small content changes after the site goes live. A website without an owner of these tasks slowly becomes a risk.
Ask what the agency does in the first weeks after launch, how bugs found later are handled, how fast it responds, and how you request changes. Check the contract for the notice period if you end the work, the payment terms for each stage, confidentiality, the licence or transfer of intellectual property on final payment, and the handover list. Our website maintenance and support and hosting, SSL and security pages describe how we approach this. This is general guidance; confirm contract wording with a lawyer.
What are the red flags when comparing web design companies?
A red flag is any behaviour that makes it harder for you to check the work, own the result or leave. These are the ones worth acting on:
- Promised rankings, traffic or leads, or the words "guaranteed" and "number one".
- No written scope, or a scope that changes whenever you ask a question.
- The agency registers the domain or hosting in its own name and will not transfer it.
- Portfolio pieces that cannot be opened, or that load slowly and look broken on a phone.
- Pressure to sign today because of a "special offer".
- Arabic described as "automatic translation" with no human review.
Remote or on-site agency: which suits a Dubai business?
A remote agency suits you if your project is well defined and you are comfortable with video calls and WhatsApp; an on-site agency suits you if you want in-person workshops and a local contact. Tooba Web is remote: we work from Istanbul and have no office or staff in the UAE.
| Point | Remote agency | On-site agency in Dubai |
|---|---|---|
| Meetings | Video calls and messages, one hour between Istanbul and the UAE | In-person meetings possible |
| Local knowledge | Learned through research and your input | Often closer first-hand knowledge |
| Overheads | Usually lighter, which can affect the quote | Office and local team costs may be reflected |
| Availability | Agreed working hours, written updates | Easier for urgent in-person needs |
Location does not replace a written scope and clear ownership. Whichever model you choose, ask for the same evidence. You can read more on our web design service or message us on WhatsApp at +90 216 393 10 07.
Frequently asked questions
How many web design companies should I compare?
Three is usually enough to see differences in approach, scope and communication without causing confusion. Give each company the same written brief, then compare the replies line by line. If one quote is much shorter than the others, it probably leaves things out rather than doing the same work more efficiently.
Should I choose a web design company because it is in Dubai?
Not by location alone. Local presence helps with in-person meetings and local knowledge, but it does not guarantee quality, ownership terms or clear scope. Judge every company, remote or local, on its live portfolio, written quote, contract and how well it answers your questions.
Do I need a developer or can a designer build my site?
It depends on the project. A brochure-style corporate site can be built by a team that designs and builds together, while integrations, booking systems or dashboards need real development skill. Ask who builds the site, how it is tested, and who fixes problems after launch.
What should I prepare before contacting an agency?
Prepare your goals, the pages you think you need, the languages, examples of sites you like, your logo and brand colours, and a rough idea of who writes the content. Also note any systems the site must connect to. A clear brief gets you comparable, more accurate quotes.
Can a web design company guarantee Google rankings?
No. Search rankings depend on many factors outside any agency's control, and Google does not sell positions. A reputable company can build a technically sound, fast, well-structured site and then support it with content and SEO, but it should never promise a specific ranking, traffic level or number of leads.
