WhatsApp Link and QR Code Generator
Enter a number and an optional message to get a click-to-chat link, a scannable QR code and ready-to-paste button code.
The WhatsApp link generator turns a phone number and an optional message into a wa.me link, a downloadable QR code and copy-ready code for a website chat button. It understands country codes such as +971 for the UAE. Everything is built in your browser, so the number and message are never sent to us or stored.

What is a wa.me link?
A wa.me link is a web address that opens a WhatsApp chat with a given number when someone taps it, without saving your contact first. It is the basis of a click-to-chat button, a QR code on a poster or a link in an email signature.
| Part | Example | Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Number | https://wa.me/971501234567 | Country code then number, digits only, no plus sign, spaces or leading zero |
| Message | ?text=Hello%20there | Optional and URL-encoded. The tool does the encoding, including Arabic text |
How do I create the link, QR code and button?
- Choose the country code. The UAE (+971) is selected first.
- Type the WhatsApp number, with or without the leading zero, or paste it in full such as +971 50 123 4567.
- Edit the pre-filled message, or clear it for a blank chat.
- Copy the link, and press the test button to open it. Test on your phone too.
- Download the QR code as PNG for print or SVG for designers.
- For a website button, set the text and corner, then copy the code and paste it before the closing body tag.
How do I format a UAE number for WhatsApp?
Use 971 followed by the mobile number without its leading 0, so 050 123 4567 becomes 971501234567. The tool accepts the local form, the +971 form and the 00971 form and converts them for you.
UAE mobile numbers normally have nine digits after +971 and start with 5. If your number does not match, the tool shows a warning rather than blocking it, because landline and business numbers can differ. The same logic applies to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and other countries in the list.
Where can I use the link and QR code?
Use them wherever a customer would otherwise have to find and save your number. WhatsApp is a common way customers contact businesses in the UAE, so the link works well on both English and Arabic pages.
- A chat button on your website, in either corner. Choose the left corner if it clashes with other floating buttons.
- Email signatures, Instagram or Google Business Profile descriptions where links are allowed.
- Printed menus, brochures, shop windows and business cards, with the QR code large enough to scan from where people stand.
- Follow-up messages after an enquiry or appointment.
Common mistakes and limits
- Leading zero or plus sign inside the wa.me address: the tool strips them, but hand-made links often fail because of them.
- A number that is not on WhatsApp opens an error or an invite page. Check the number on a phone first.
- A very long message makes a dense QR code that is hard to scan. Keep print messages short.
- The message does not send itself. The person still has to press send.
- Contacting people first is regulated differently from replying to them. If you plan outbound messages, confirm the rules with a lawyer or the relevant authority.
The button code is a plain link with no third-party script. To count clicks, tick the dataLayer option and set up the event in your tag manager.
Frequently asked questions
Is a wa.me link free to use?
Yes. The link only opens a chat, and creating it costs nothing. This generator is free and needs no account. Normal WhatsApp usage still depends on your own plan and the app's terms, which we do not control, so check them if you use WhatsApp for business at scale.
Do I need the WhatsApp Business app for a wa.me link?
No. A wa.me link works with any number that is registered on WhatsApp, whether you use the standard app or the Business app. The Business app adds features such as quick replies and a business profile, which can be useful if you answer enquiries every day.
Why does my WhatsApp link not work?
The usual causes are a leading zero or plus sign in the address, a missing country code, a number that is not registered on WhatsApp, or a link opened on a device without the app, which falls back to a web page. Paste the number again here and test the link.
Can the pre-filled message be in Arabic?
Yes. Arabic and other languages are encoded automatically and appear correctly in the chat. The QR code still scans, but a long message makes it denser, so keep Arabic print messages to a sentence. The person can edit the text before sending.
Does this tool store my phone number?
No. The link, the QR code and the button code are all built in your browser. Your number and message are not uploaded, logged or saved, and the page makes no network requests with them. Opening the test link goes to WhatsApp, not to us.
